Anonymous asked: how do you usually record your vocals?

It’s different for every song but I always use Shure SM57 microphones for every instrument.  It’s a nice mid-fi kind of mic that you can get any sort of sound with as long as you position it right.  A lot of the stuff on “mickey’s dead” was recorded using microphones that were 5 to 10 feet away from me while I was doing the vocals.

I don’t know why, it just made sense to do it that way.
