Anonymous asked: Do the women in songs like "Caroline, Please Kill Me" or "Monica" or "A Bible in a Bath of Bleach" refer to a specific person of that name, or are they simply stand-ins for various girls you've had those experiences with? I remember you said once that you lied and told someone that "Monica" was about them, but I'm wondering if there is a Monica out there that, that song is actually about. Also, there's gotta be a million Carolines that get an insta-lady-boner from that track.
“Caroline” is a about a specific girl. ”A Bible…” is too, but “Monica” was just a song about what real love to me would be at that time in my life…venturing into some wilderness together….being afraid but being okay with it.
I like writing about people I know. I have a lot of feelings I don’t know how to express without writing it in music. Most of them don’t know the songs are about them.
